Rive Trace Bioretention

Riva Trace Baptist Church is located in the Beards Creek watershed. This CBT funded project, identified as a priority in 2007 and constructed in 2008, involved the installation of a series of rain gardens to disconnect rooftop and parking lot runoff from an over-capacity conventional stormwater facility, located downhill. In addition, we enhanced the existing practices by stabilizing a swale that drains from Route 214 onto the church property and provided additional plantings in bioretention areas. Anne Arundel County’s Phase 2 Watershed Implementation Plan prepared by the Department of Public Works identified the Beard’s Creek sub-watershed, which contains the Riva Trace Baptist Church site, as its second highest priority for restoration.
