The Federation is constructing a stormwater bioretention cell on the campus of the Center of Applied Technology – South (CAT-South), a magnet program of Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) located in Edgewater, Maryland. This project will address flooding issues experienced outside one of the school’s workshops and help treat stormwater before it flows into Glebe Bay.
The goal of this project is to install a stormwater Best Management Practice (BMP) to alleviate flooding and draining issues at the Marine Repair work lot at CAT-South. Stormwater from the surrounding 1.84 acres collects and pools by the Marine Repair shop work area. The Federation will work with the contractor and school to deliver a project that will not only meet the needs of the school but will also reduce sediment and pollutant loads entering the South River.
