Coronavirus Update March 20th

Federation Coronavirus update:

March, 20, 2020

We are hoping that all our members of our Federation Family stay healthy and safe. Please follow the guidelines laid out by Governor Hogan and the Center of Disease Control. All our staff are telecommuting. If you need to reach a staff member, please email them, using the staff list on our website in About Us. Most of our staff has children home from school, so please be patient if our response times are slightly slow.

Adapting and Changing:

While we hope to transform our Arundel Rivers on the Half Shell into an online auction, a date has not yet been determined. We are taking this crisis one week at a time and sometimes one day at a time. We have cancelled all our spring volunteer events and have postponed many plantings until the Fall.

Doing What We Can:

So far our restoration contractors have been continuing to install projects. However, the ability of the state and municipalities to reimburse us may be slowed due to shutdowns related to the virus. We intend to start the monitoring season to test the health of our rivers starting on the first week of April for the South, West, and Rhode Rivers. We also plan to release our State of the Rivers Report Card in April as well.

If you have any questions, please contact us. We are not sure how our environmental skills can be helpful in this situation, but over our sixteen-year history we have built strong ties to our community members. We are concerned for you health and well-being. Let us know if we can be of assistance. We will be doing our part by washing our hands and maintaining social distancing and following the government’s guidelines. Together we can make it through this challenging time.
