Funding for the Department of Natural Resources is at serious risk!

SUBJECT: Oppose DLS Recommendations to Cut DNR Programs

Dear [Legislator(s)],

I urge you to oppose the Department of Legislative Services' recommendation to cut funding to the Department of Natural Resources and the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund. This funding plays a crucial role in protecting and restoring water quality and natural ecosystems by reducing nutrient and sediment loading, increasing aquatic and terrestrial habitats for wildlife and water quality, and by increasing our resiliency in the face of climate change. The Trust Fund directly impacts Maryland's economy by supporting a vibrant fishing and tourism industry and bolsters environmental jobs in the state. Maryland is the Chair of the 6-state partnership to address the Chesapeake Bay and we need to maintain that leadership.

Please reject DLS's proposal to cut funding to the Department of Natural Resources and the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
