Maryland Reentry Resource Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing recidivism in Maryland by supporting individuals returning from incarceration with comprehensive, dignity-centered services and pathways to meaningful employment. GreenLift is a mission-driven conservation landscaping and stormwater maintenance company that creates high-quality environmental outcomes while providing paid employment and career pathways for individuals reentering society.
Arundel Rivers has worked with both MDRRC and GreenLift over the past two years to provide training opportunities for participants in the MDRRC program, and have engaged GreenLift to support maintenance on our restoration sites. Through this partnership we have enhanced and protected our projects in the Broadview and Preserve communities, at the Village of Middle Cove, throughout Lake Marion, Franklin Point State Park, the Hillsmere Marina, and at the Southern District Police Station. This boots-on-the-ground work ensures the long-term viability of our projects while also providing paid, real-world experience to GreenLift crew members. One crew member, while discussing the native flowers they were planting on a site, told Arundel Rivers staff that this was the foundation of his dream – to own his own eco-conscious landscaping company. This work, and these needed opportunities, would not be possible without Maryland Reentry Resource Center’s leadership and dedication to marrying the social, economic, and environmental spheres of our community.Â
